Elegante a L’ombrelle (Lady with Parasol). An exquisite Bronze statuette of an elegantly dressed lady holding a parasol behind her. Her head and arms are of sculptured ivory, the remaining work is made of dual patinated gilt and green bronze. Mounted on a marble socle. Signed Marquet, French, C1910. 220mm high. Rene Paul Marquet (French) was born in Port Louis on July 5th 1875. He studied painting and sculpture under Emanual Fontaine and Jean Falgiere respectively and exhibited figures at the Salon des Artistes Francais from from 1890 onwards, getting an honourable mention in 1909.
