Faberge. 1911. Cigarette Box with Coat of Arms created by Carl Faberge. This Engine turned enamalled Presentation Silver Gilt Cigarette Box (15cm x 9cm x 6cm) was undoubtedly designed and manufactured by the Russian Royal Jeweller Carl Faberge at the Moscow Workshops for the City of London as a Civic Gift. The two Coat’s of Arms, one being the City of London, is very similar in design and quality to the earlier Civic badge of office of the Lord Mayor of London (1877) also displayed on this web site. The symbols incorporated into this high quality box with enamelled badge show it to have been made for the City of London in 1911. The box bears the marks of the Russian Royal Jeweller Carl Faberge in Cyrillic, the Moscow Kokoshnick mark together with London import marks for 1911 and CF in an oval shield, this being Fabergés London import sponsors mark for the period. The box has been authenticated by Faberge.
